Memory fails under volume
When you are sending multiple tailored applications a week, details blur: which version you sent, when you followed up, who replied, and what they asked next. A tracker exists to protect those facts — not to become a second full-time job.
Track only fields you will use
Start minimal. Extra columns you never update create guilt and abandonment.
- Company, role title, and link to the posting
- Date applied and current stage (draft, sent, screen, interview, offer, closed)
- Follow-up date and last touch note
- Which CV version or result you submitted
- Recruiter or hiring-manager contact if you have one
Tie each row to the artifacts you sent
Store or link the exact PDF, cover letter, and outreach note for that role. When an interview arrives two weeks later, you need the same evidence trail — not a reconstructed guess from your master resume.
LuminousCV keeps tailored results, Application Kit drafts, and tracker notes in one workspace so the paper trail stays attached to the job.
Run a weekly triage, not constant fussing
Once a week, scan for overdue follow-ups, stale “sent” rows, and roles you should close. Move closed opportunities out of the active list so the board stays short enough to act on in one sitting.
If a stage has been silent past your follow-up window, either nudge once with a new proof point or mark it closed and reclaim attention for warmer leads.
Put this into practice
Upload your CV and paste a job description to generate a tailored, ATS-safe draft you can edit before you apply.
